Mt. Cook: At over 12,316 feet tall, Mount Cook is the tallest mountain in New Zealand. Lying in the Southern Alps, Mount Cook was actually almost 1350 feet tall when it was first measured in the 1880's. It lost more than 30 feet in 1991 when millions of cubic feet of rock and ice slid off the peak!
