Sunrise in the Valley of Death: "This photo was taken in late November 2008 in Badwater Basin, at 282
feet below sea level, its the lowest point in the Western Hemisphere.
Shot with a tripod mounted Nikon FM2, and Fuji Velvia 100 film.
We left San Francisco in the late afternoon and drove 12 hours though the night to get here. Arrived at Badwater Basin around 4am, parked the car, and carried gear about 2 miles out into the basin. After setting up camp, we waited in total silence and darkness for the sun to rise, and when dawn finally came, it was beautiful, and very surreal, as if we'd been transported to another planet."
