Iguana Elder: Regular NPOD viewer Candice Fears of the Grand Cayman Islands submitted this handsome fellow: A Green Iguana Elder posed for the picture. He let me get that close to him, not afraid. His back is lined with dewlap, which are the spines that run down his back to his tail. On the top of his head, not viewed in this picture is a third eye called a parietal eye, which looks like a pale scale. He has excellent vision and uses visual signals to communicate with other iguanas.

The colors of the lizard blend beautifully with the sky reflection on the water giving a "celestial feeling " to it.
